Recorded October 27, 2007 at Studio des Deutschen Filmorchesters Babelsberg, Berlin, Nalepastraße
'Der gelbe Klang' ('The Yellow Sound') is my sixth solo album. Like my earlier recordings, it features improvised music. Now and then, however, I underlayed the solo trombone with composed motifs, recorded with digital equipment and played in a loop to provide scaffolding for improvisation. In order to transmit the flow and the energy of a live concert to the CD, I played without pause in my studio. We added the subtitles later, as the album was recorded in one long ride from beginning to end - and that's the way you should listen to it. Conny Bauer, March 2008
Conny Bauer develops his work-in-progress in a stringent and captivating manner: surging hymns, buzzing bumblebees, alphorns, marches, folk dances - a cornucopia of ideas. One hour of music spent in a dense flow of thoughts,an outing full of action, not just brains. The pleasure of playing here and now spreads from Bauer to the listener as he rumbles, mumbles, squeals, rejoices, swings. The trombone has a reputation of being unwieldy, but Bauer has given it the light-heartedness of a saxophone. Ulrich Steinmetzger, March 2008
